Why is liquid wax transparent ?

Melting wax candle

Wax is solid at room temperature. Wax molecules are packed tight like a crystal lattice. When heated, wax melts and becomes liquid. When wax melts, its molecules move away from wach other. In liquids, molecules are loosely packed. Empty space between loosely packed molecules allow light to pass through. This makes liquid wax appear transparent and glassy.
